Job Summary

The Albany County Democratic Party is hiring a 2022 Campaign Season Communications/Volunteer Coordinator. The candidate should be high energy, outgoing, enthusiastic, and able to mobilize AND RECRUIT a volunteer base to promote Albany County candidates. This position will help strategize campaign efforts and communication plans (marketing/mailers/ad-buys/social media/press releases). Candidates should possess strong social and communication skills, a desire to elect Democrats, and an enthusiastic attitude. 

Responsibilities and Duties

• Cooperate with County party to execute shared campaign goals
• Identify, recruit, and train groups of volunteers to conduct voter contact, registration, phone banking and more
• Strategize communication plans (mailers/ad-buys/social media/press releases)
• Provide data lists to candidates for canvassing and mailings
• Lead/train volunteers through the various phases of the campaign
• Ensure accurate collection and entry of data
• Organize and execute events (virtual and live)
• Delegate clear tasks to volunteers and identify volunteer leaders
• Provide the County Chair with quantitative and qualitative progress reports 
• Nurture relationships with local candidates, community leaders, and activists
• Hit metrics/goals for volunteer recruitment and voter contact 
• Help keep regular office hours (supplement volunteer and candidate hours) and supervise off-hour events
• Track donations made through downtown headquarters

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven ability to delegate tasks
• Familiarity with Albany County, the Democratic platform, and voting processes
• Exceptional written, verbal, and organizational skills
• Proficient with Google Drive and social media platforms
• Proven ability to quickly learn new technology/tools
• Strong verbal and written communication skills 
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Able to work independently and to self-direct
• Excellent time management, and task organizing skills

Job Requirements

• Willingness to relocate if you live outside of Albany County
• The ability to travel independently
• The ability to work extended hours
