Ken Chestek is running for House District 13

Ken Chestek is running for a third term in State Assembly, District 13. The professor emeritus in law at the University of Wyoming confesses at chestekforhd13.com/my-platform-2, “I hate politics! At least, the kind of aggressive, in-your-face, confrontational politics that seems to be taking hold … “

He promotes coal to create carbon fiber, graphene, polyurethane, carbon-based bricks and roofing. This allows Wyoming coal companies to mine and sell coal without filling the atmosphere with more carbon.

The scheme forces the turnover of federally-managed lands to the state. The state, will lack the money to properly manage that land. This will force the state to sell that to private interests. Ken favors preserving open space land for generations to come.

Dark money and high dollar donors can buy votes. Ken supports a United States Constitution amendment to overturn Citizens United so the legislature can enact campaign finance reform.

Wyoming’s public school standing is jeopardized by efforts to cut school funding and to politicize what is taught in classrooms. 

Attacks on the judicial system are a dangerous step toward autocracy. No person is above the law.

Ken says, “Protecting the right of every citizen to cast a secret ballot is the heart of protecting our freedoms.”

Ken will protect and restore a woman’s right to make her own reproductive health decisions.

Trey Sherwood is running for House District 14

For the last six years, Trey has served the people of Albany County in the House of Representatives, sitting on the Joint Appropriations Committee.

In this role, she has provided funding for education, unmet housing needs, raises for hardworking public employees, and prevented cuts to the University of Wyoming, the state Department of Health, and the Wyoming Business Council.

Trey is a community builder, small business coach, historian, and creative economy champion. She holds a degree in Public History, is a 2009 Leadership Wyoming graduate, founder of the Albany County Housing Coalition, and co-founder of the Laramie Mural Project and Laramie Public Art Coalition.

Karlee Provenza is running for House District 45

Karlee is in her third term as the Representative for Wyoming’s 45th House District where she serves as the Minority Whip and is on the Agriculture and Public Lands Committee, the Travel, Recreation, and Wildlife Committee, the Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resource Trust Fund Committee, and she has previously served on Education and the Judiciary Committees. 

During her time in the legislature, Karlee has passed laws protecting public land access and various bills aimed at government transparency and accountability. In 2024, after years of community organizing, Karlee passed legislation that strengthened oversight of law enforcement in Wyoming. 

Karlee is a nonprofit coach for organizations aiming to build grassroots power. She believes deeply that power is inherent in the people and works to engage communities on how they can participate in their local governments. She has a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology and enjoys wildlife photography. You may have seen her recent photojournalism work when she took a photo of a wealthy far-right donor handing out checks on the Wyoming House Floor to members of the Freedom Caucus.

Gary Wilken is running for House District 46

Gary Wilken is a retired United Methodist pastor, law enforcement professional, and lifelong public servant with decades serving communities in Colorado and Wyoming.

Gary earned a history degree from Colorado State University and a Master of Divinity from the Pacific School of Religion where he also trained as a police chaplain. He served with the Oakland Police Department Reserve Program.

Gary believes public lands must remain in the public sphere.  This includes environmental concerns that endanger our lands and challenges of changing climate on both public and private lands.  He sees a biblical base on the stewardship of land and life and relationship to the divine.

Throughout his career, Gary has united ministry and public service, pastoring rural congregations and advocating for environmental protections in eastern Colorado . He served the Albany County Sheriff's Office as a detention deputy, corporal and dual-certified patrol officer. As the liaison for the sheriff’s office to drug, mental health and homeless courts and with many in his family and friends dealing with these issues, he became an impassioned advocate for such programs.

Gary worked as Albany County's Code Enforcement Officer, addressing public safety, zoning, and hazardous waste concerns alongside residents and state agencies.

Education, research, scientific study and the fair and equal treatment of all students is basic common sense and religiously and morally our call. “It is a basic part of who I am and who I share as a pastor, a parent, a Christian and a decent human being.”

Chris Rothfuss is running for State Senate District 9

For the last 15 years, Chris Rothfuss has served Albany County in the Senate, including 12 years as Senate Minority Leader. He is the ranking member of the Senate Education and Minerals Committees and chair of the Select Committee on Blockchain and Financial Technology.

Chris has worked to strengthen public education, protect and grow the University of Wyoming, expand access to healthcare, defend public lands, support working families, and build an economy where young people can stay, work and raise their families in Wyoming. He believes that government should be there when you need it and leave you alone when you don't. He always puts people first.

Chris grew up in Casper, graduated from Natrona County High School, and attended the University of Wyoming as a Trustees’ Scholar. He earned degrees in International Studies and Chemical Engineering from UW, and later completed a PhD in Chemical Engineering and an MS in Applied Physics at the University of Washington. Chris and his wife, Heather, returned to Laramie in 2006 to raise their four kids. He is a faculty member in the UW Honors College, where he has taught since 2007.

Ken Casner is running for Governor

Kenneth R. Casner is a third-generation Wyoming native with  a longstanding commitment to public service. Bryan McCarty is running for Secretary of State

Bryan McCarty disapproves of current Secretary of State Chuck Gray’s willingness to be a formal advocate for President Donald Trump on policies unrelated to the responsibilities of his office. He has no concerns about election integrity in Wyoming, a key issue for Gray, because the registration process is already adequately secure.

“You can’t register to vote if you don’t have an ID and aren’t a citizen,” says McCarty. He's a retired railwayman, supplier, and web tech, and says that his priorities as Secretary of State would be “executing the responsibilities of that office as they are spelled out by the governing statutes and constitution” and bringing the position back to a more administrative role rather than advocacy.

“The real cornerstone of my campaign is democracy itself, and I’m really not bashful about framing it as our house, as the analogy for democracy, is just on fire.”

ANA CORDOVA is running for Superintendent of Instruction

Ana Cordova is a third-generation Wyomingite from Cheyenne who holds a bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University, a Ph.D. in human genetics from Johns Hopkins University, and a J.D. from Northwestern University. She worked at Georgetown University, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the AccessLex Institute. She founded the Cordova Family Scholarship in 2020 and has no prior experience as a K-12 classroom teacher.

Cordova emphasizes that education should extend beyond academics to encompass mental health, nutrition, and ensuring students come from safe and stable environments. She is dedicated to creating vibrant public schools and aims to elevate them so they remain the natural choice for all parents, reducing the reliance on private scholarship programs.

Sergio Maldonado is running for Superintendent of Instruction

Maldonado, a Northern Arapaho man who was born in Riverton, previously ran for state superintendent in 2022, earning more than 43,000 votes. The Northern Arapaho Tribal Education Director has worked as a substitute teacher in Arapaho, taught at Central Wyoming College, and is working on a doctorate degree at the University of Wyoming.

“I’ve been in education all my life,” Maldonado told WyoFile. When contemplating Wyoming’s educational realities, he said, the question arose: “What can I add as a tribal member that will effectively facilitate aggressive change in the lack of academic achievement? After that, I knew I was going to run one more time.”

Maldonado states, “My leadership will not be politicized to the detriment of our students. Every student will receive a quality education in collaboration with Wyoming teachers, the administration and community input. Wyoming education must not be party-centered but student-centered, student focused with the ultimate goal of affording our students a positive and progressive future.”
